I assume whichever RAW editor used imatch would come into play once the image has been exported with the edits and not before? I will check out the community and information above. There are many IMatch users who use it for 10 or more years, managing between 50,000 and 500,000 files. You may swap your favorite RAW processor / image editor next year for something better, but DAM is for decades. There are also PhotoSupreme, Daminion, Canto, FotoWare, Extensis, AssetBank, Bynder, Mylio - to name a few.

One poster below mentioned the free DigiKam, for example. The IMatch Help System is freely accessible and there are also free tutorial videos.Ĭheck out some of the other DAMs on the market as well and find out what works best for you.

There is a free 30-day trial version of IMatch available and of course I provide personal support even for trial versions - via the IMatch user community and email. IMatch not only manages images or RAW files, but all your other documents (video, audio, PDF, Office, etc.). In general, IMatch is agnostic and works with all your other software. Capture One is always a bit special, because of the way it works with folders and metadata. This will show you typical workflows used by other users combining IMatch with one of these products. You can search the IMatch user community for topics discussing Capture One (or C1) and On1. The IMATCH website says it works with most photo editors and they would hardly have a product unless it did so I don't personally use it as I don't need a DAM but other users on the C1Pro forum appear to use it successfully with C1Pro.

How would Imatch integrate with other photo editors such as On1 or Capture One for example? I am looking for a solid image management solution for the long term but want something that is quite seamless.

This makes image management independent of the photo editing software. If you are serious about image management, particularly in the long term, you might want to consider a dedicated DAM application like IMATCH. What are your opinions of this? Anyone have experience of using this type of database system? I might be wrong but I believe ACDsee might be a similar system? Initially setting it up I can see it being quite a quick and smooth system as there would be limited information/edits/metadata stored in the database but as the months/years go on and the numbers of photos and edits increase to maybe hundreds of thousands etc I can't see how this will continue to be a smooth and reliable way of managing photos? Whereas with a catalog based system this can be negated somewhat by starting a new catalog or using different catalogs for different genres of photography etc. My query is regarding this and the long term reliability of this sort of system. It doesn't catalog photos as such but uses a database and sidecar files to store photo edits and has an in built browser so you don't really 'import' photos like you do with say Lightroom.

Like a lot of the usual suspects it has many different editing tools but where it seems to differ from my perspective is how it manages photos. I have been exploring a few new photo editors and came across On1 Photo Raw.
